A Writer’s Paradise

The landscapes and places that inspired North Kerry’s famous writers

On this guided tour you will take in all the majesty of north Kerry from one of its highest vantage points, Knockanore Hill. Knockanore Hill is steeped in legend and mythology as the place where the great Irish hero of folklore Fionn MacCumhnaill, took on the leader of the World.

The tour route you will follow is one of great contrasts:  between the lush, green rolling Irish countryside and rugged coastal scenery. Alongside your Ecotrek tour guide this cycle tour will encompass just over 40 kilometres, taking in historic sites along the way including the last Gaelic castle of the King of Kerry which dates back to the 1400’s.

Culminating atop the great Knockanore Hill, you will be able to gaze down on the north Kerry countryside stretching out to the Atlantic on the horizon, a landscape which has inspired some of Ireland’s greatest writers.

Allow up to six hours for tour duration. Please bring suitable trail footwear for the tour. For more information go to http://dannyhoulihan.wix.com/ecotrek-ballybunion
