Eco Trek Tours – exploring all North Kerry has to offer
EcoTrek Tours was set up and is run by North Kerry historian Danny Houlihan. The focus of Eco Trek Tours is to provide a tour that puts together the best North Kerry has to offer. Besides its outstanding beauty, the area has a rich history to tell, for this there’s no better person than Danny.
While the tour company’s routes aim to show you around all the scenic highlights of North Kerry you’ll also visit the historical points of interest which dot the coastline and rural hinterland, you’ll also come upon those places of local legend on your way including the Castle of the Pooka, the Devil’s Ladder and the site of a battle fought by none other than a mythical King of the World and Fionn McCumhaill himself.
With a guiding principle of Eco Trek being the conservation of our natural environment an emphasis is also given to the thriving natural heritage of North Kerry. Highlights for past tours has included sightings of the cliff dwelling fox, baby seals as well as dolphins and humpback whales just off the cliffs.
Ecotrek Tours are designed with minimal impact on the environment so not to damage the natural habitat of birds and wildlife of the area, all visitors are asked to respect the Leave No Trace Policy which is in place by Ecotrek. All profits of tours are put back into the daily operation of the tours and a donation of one euro is deducted from all tours towards Bird Watch Ireland.
